The only part that identifies a product is the ASIN — a ten-character code that appears after /dp/. Everything else is optional.

Both URLs open the same product page. The second is 32 characters instead of 214, and it does not tell the recipient what you searched for to find it.

Why you might not want to share the long version

The keywords and crid parameters preserve your search query. Sending someone a raw Amazon link shares your search terms along with the product, which is not always what you intend.

The tag parameter is a different problem. If you copied the link from a review site or a YouTube description, that affiliate tag travels with it. Every person you forward it to is generating commission for a third party, and Amazon's operating agreement is explicit that affiliate links should not be shared in contexts the associate has not disclosed.

Finding the ASIN yourself

If you would rather do it by hand: look for /dp/ in the URL and take the ten characters that follow it.
